See page showing Textile examples. You can view here the items from our workshops. Last month featured Crewel Embroidery by Pat Bowden.
Welcome to the Exeter and District Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild.
We are a warm and welcoming group of textile enthusiasts who all love to sew.
If you are curious about sewing but feel nervous about threading a needle, come along and see what we do. We have all sorts of abilities from people who have just learnt to knot the thread, through dabblers and experts to textile artists. What we share is a love of threads and fabrics. Most of us have stashes of both that we just like to look at and then put away again in case we spoil it! If that strikes a chord with you please come and join us.
If you have no experience, lots of experience or anything in between and enjoy meeting like-minded people to talk, share and learn, you would be most welcome.
Each month one of our members leads the meeting. (There is never any obligation to lead so don’t worry!) They show you a project or a technique to try with lots of examples. You can look and listen and then do your own thing or have a go yourself. Our members are very generous with their knowledge and materials. You don’t need anything more than scissors and needles to start and we have a mini shop with materials at cost price and actively encourage recycling. We also have a textiles book library, DVDs and relevant equipment for hire.
You can come to two meetings without joining; just paying £2 per session before you decide.
So, what are you waiting for?
Ring up or turn up and you can be assured of a warm welcome.
